Colostrum has become one of the most talked-about supplements in the gut health space and if you are struggling with gut issues, you have probably looked into colostrum at some point. Social media is filled with claims about its immune-boosting, gut-healing benefits, and for some, it really does deliver. But colostrum isn’t the only option. Another supplement, Immunolin®, is gaining attention for being more concentrated, consistent, and dairy-free. So how do you know if colostrum or Immunolin® for gut health is the better fit? 

Let’s break down what each does and how to decide.

Colostrum is the nutrient-rich first milk produced by mammals in the days after birth. It’s loaded with immunoglobulins, growth factors, and peptides that help newborns develop strong immune and gut systems. While these same components can offer benefits to adults, the effects tend to be more variable. For some, colostrum supports gut lining repair and immunity, but for others it doesn’t make much of a noticeable difference.

Colostrum does have drawbacks. Because it’s derived from milk, it contains lactose and dairy proteins, which means it’s not an option for those with sensitivities or intolerances. Its potency also depends heavily on how it’s sourced and processed, so quality can be hit or miss. And in rare cases, poorly processed colostrum may contain endotoxins that can worsen gut issues instead of helping them.

Colostrum can still be a good option, especially if you tolerate dairy and want the additional growth factors it provides. But if your goal is targeted gut repair with consistent quality, Immunolin® often comes out ahead.

Immunolin® contains about 15 percent more immunoglobulins than colostrum, which means more potency for binding harmful substances and supporting gut repair.

Dairy-Free
Immunolin® is derived from bovine serum rather than milk, so it’s lactose-free and safe for those who can’t tolerate dairy.

Both colostrum and Immunolin® contain immunoglobulins, which are powerful proteins that bind to bacteria, viruses, mold, and even candida in the gut. By neutralizing these harmful antigens, immunoglobulins reduce the toxic burden on the body so the gut can focus on repair. They also reinforce the gut lining, like patching up holes in a cheesecloth so fewer unwanted particles slip through and trigger immune responses. Immunoglobulins can also be used alongside antibiotics, helping bind and clear bacterial toxins while supporting the gut lining, which may reduce some of the common digestive side effects of antibiotic therapy.

Immunoglobulins are versatile and have been studied for a wide range of gut concerns. By lowering inflammation and binding harmful pathogens, they can ease stubborn symptoms that don’t always respond to diet or traditional protocols.

Immunoglobulins can prevent H. pylori from attaching to the stomach lining, which reduces bloating, reflux, and nausea. They also bind toxins from bacteria linked to SIBO, making treatment more effective. 

#2 Candida Overgrowth
By binding candida in the gut, immunoglobulins calm inflammation and reduce fungal load. This can ease sugar cravings, improve energy, and restore balance.

#3 Mold Toxicity
Immunoglobulins bind mycotoxins produced by mold, lowering the body’s toxic burden. This support can help reduce fatigue, brain fog, and bloating while giving the gut space to heal.

#4 Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Chronic Diarrhea
Immunoglobulins can reduce gut inflammation and improve stool consistency, making them helpful for people with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or ongoing diarrhea.

One of the most unique benefits of Immunolin® is that it’s safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This makes it an excellent option when traditional gut-healing protocols aren’t recommended. Colostrum can also be safe in these seasons of life, but Immunolin®’s dairy-free profile makes it easier for sensitive individuals to tolerate. It is important to note that there is limited published evidence on ImmunoLin use during pregnancy; most safety data comes from general SBI/colostrum studies and use in non-pregnant populations. I always recommend consulting with your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. 

How to Choose Between Colostrum and Immunolin® Products

Deciding between colostrum or Immunolin® for gut health comes down to your body, your sensitivities, and your goals. If you tolerate dairy and want the additional growth factors in colostrum, it may be worth trying. But if you need higher concentrations of immunoglobulins, consistent quality, or dairy-free support, Immunolin® is usually the better fit.

When choosing a product, match the formulation to your needs. For gentle microbiome diversity and maintenance, a combination product like OrthoSpore may be helpful as this has a low dose of Immunolin® as well as spore based probiotics.
